SUNDAY: Private Tour of Tudor Place: Discover Historic Georgetown Home and Garden Decked Out for the Holidays. Join us this holiday season for a special private tour of Tudor Place. Tudor Palace was designed by Dr. William Thornton, designer of both the U.S. Capitol and the Octagon House. The property, comprised of one city block on the crest of Georgetown Heights, offers an excellent view of the Potomac River. Saturday, December 26, 2009. SOLD OUT: Unforgettable Holiday Tour of the US Capitol: Explore the architectural majesty of Union Station, Library of Congress, and the US Botanic Gardens, culminating in a tour of the US Capitol. Join us this holiday season for a special private tour at the eastern end of the National Mall including the interior of the US Capitol. The tour starts at Union Station, where you will have the chance to revel in the majesty of a 30-foot Christmas tree, a gift from Norway, decorated in all the season's splendor. The tour will continue walking towards the Botanical Garden and Library of Congress, culminating in the U.S. Capitol. Our unforgettable Capitol tour starts with a 15 minute presentation of the history and architecture of this grand monument to democracy. Meet other ICDC members who appreciate the history and national heritage of United States. Our museum and gallery tours are some of our most popular events, and frequently sell out well in advance. Sunday, December 27, 2009. Private Tour of Tudor Place: Discover Historic Georgetown Home and Garden Decked Out for the Holidays. Join us this holiday season for a special private tour of Tudor Place. Tudor Palace was designed by Dr. William Thornton, designer of both the U.S. Capitol and the Octagon House, and was the home of Thomas and Martha Custis Peter, granddaughter of George Washington. The property, comprised of one city block on the crest of Georgetown Heights, offers an excellent view of the Potomac River. Friday, January 08, 2010. Embassy of France Friday Night Dance Soiree and Lessons: Learn to dance the Waltz and Salsa. Got plans for Friday night? Start your New Year and the weekend with a dance soiree at the Embassy of France. Just in time for our Viennese Ball at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, we have combined our popular dance lessons at the Embassy of France with a night of ballroom dancing following the dance lessons. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn to dance and practice dancing while meeting other ICDC members. Let us show you how to dance the waltz, one of the most elegant and romantic ballroom dances followed by salsa one of the most popular and exciting Latin dances! The dance lessons will be followed by time to dance and meet ICDC members. Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Greek Cooking Class with Lunch, and Dessert: Experience Greek cuisine with your ICDC friends. You are cordially invited to join your International Club DC friends for a culinary adventure to Greece. Learn how to take simple ingredients and create traditional Greek dishes at home that are perfect both for entertaining and for satisfying everyday meals. The Greek cuisine has been influenced by lots of culinary traditions, beginning with Alexander the Great and continuing with King Constantine and the Turkish invasion. As a result of these influences, Greek cuisine has a lot in common with other cultures, such as the Italian, the Balkan, or Middle East cultures. The cooking class includes printed recipes, a cooking demonstration, and lunch with dessert. Tickets only $49 for a limited time.


Saturday, January 16, 2010. Guided Garden Tour of Dumbarton Oaks Museum and Hillside Gardens in Georgetown. Join us for a guided tour of Dumbarton Oaks Museum, where you will explore the Byzantine Collection, which ranks among the most significant collections of the World. The collection also includes important works from Western Europe. Afterwards, join us for a guided tour at Dumbarton Oaks Garden (weather permitting), which is magnificent during this time of the year. Friday, January 22, 2010. Romanian Ambassador’s Residence Dinner Reception: Celebrate Romanian Culture, Music, and Art with Ambassador Vierta. The International Club of DC, in cooperation with the Embassy of Romania, cordially requests the pleasure of your company for an enchanting evening of Romanian culture, art, and cuisine at the residence of Ambassador Vierita. The evening begins with a presentation about Romania’s culture, geography, trade, and tourism. Then, feast on a buffet of traditional Romanian delicacies prepared by the embassy chef along with wine served at the open bar. The evening also provides you with an opportunity to meet diplomatic personnel at the embassy as well as International Club of DC members in attendance. Saturday, February 13, 2010. French Embassy Valentine’s Soiree: Both singles and couples are invited to an unforgettable Rendez-vous of Parisian cuisine, champagne, chocolate, music, and dance!. The International Club of DC and the French Emass invites both singles and couples to “La Saint-Valentin,” a stylish soiree filled with music, dance and delectable delights at the French Embassy. A luxurious liaison awaits you in the City of Lights as we celebrate the most romantic night of the year! Saturday, February 27, 2010. Viennese Ball at the National Museum of Women in the Arts: A Night in Vienna. Experience a magical evening at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
