A little bit of history…

Beaujolais [BOE-zjoh-lay] Nouveau is always released the third Thursday of November, regardless of the start of the harvest. The arrival of the Beaujolais Nouveau has become one of the most exciting and lively wine events around the world. The arrival of this light red wine - meant to be imbibed immediately upon opening - is a great compliment to our regular monthly Happy Hour where you will meet about 200 ICDC members in just one evening!

Beaujolais Nouveau began as a local phenomenon in bars, cafes and bistros of Beaujolais and Lyons in France. Each year the wine would arrive with much local fanfare, and was consumed in great quantities. Eventually, the government started to regulate the sale of this free-flowing wine, and restrictions were put into place. In 1951, the regulations were revoked and Beaujolais Nouveau was officially recognized not only locally but the tradition gained popularity across the globe.
