We discovered Roosevelt Island by embarking on a hike & a guided tour with a National Parks Service Ranger. Though located just 10 minutes from downtown DC, the island offers a refuge away from Washington DC & the opportunity to be surrounded by wildlife amidst breezes from the Potomac River. The guided tour focused on the island's wildlife, history, & was preceded by a picnic.
