About The Gala
You are cordially invited to join outgoing internationally-minded professionals to celebrate New Year's Eve in Grand Style at the historic and world renowned Wardman Park Marriott Hotel. We have assembled an incomparable evening of dancing, sophistication, and elegance in the heart of Washington DC with the very best selection of live entertainment, including 5 live bands: Swing and ballroom dance music performed by the Tom Cunningham Orchestra, Origem Latin salsa band, Jamaican Reggae and Calypso Band, A Jazz ensemble, and an Irish band. Festivities for the evening also include two stunning balloon drops at midnight, caricature artist drawings, and mock casino gambling. About The Venue
Our New Year's Eve gala takes places at the prestigious Wardman park Marriott Hotel, one of Washington's premier hotels, and the venue of choice for many American and international galas, including official Presidential Inaugural Balls. The hotel has played host to hundreds of world leaders, dignitaries and celebrities, and now it is your turn to experience an unforgettable New Year's Eve celebration at this beautiful and spacious hotel. Though the Marriott Wardman Park features one of the largest ballrooms in the city, we have made arrangements to conclude ticket sales well before we reach capacity to ensure a great experience for all attendees. We encourage you to reserve your tickets early, as we sold out the previous year. Located in a prestigious Washington neighborhood, just minutes from the National Zoo and the National Cathedral, the hotel sits on 16 lush acres of flowering plants and meticulously maintained gardens. While away from the congestion of downtown, the Metro rail is at the doorstep providing easy access to the entire Metropolitan area.

In addition to general admission benefits, VIP ticket holders are entitled to early admission to the ball with expedited check-in at 7:15 PM, an intimate VIP reception with champagne and appetizers with caviar, and a 4-course sit-down dinner before the Ball. Reserved seating is also provided during dinner. Enjoy the music of a jazz ensemble during dinner. Please note that the last dinner seating is at 8:30 PM!

1920s CHICAGO (featuring the Tom Cunningham Orchestra)

Nearly a century ago, Prohibition hit the cities of the United States hard. But the fun, debauchery and excitement was kept alive in Chicago! Tonight we take you back in time, where guilty pleasures became the norm. Join us for a memorable night of dancing to the sounds of the Tom Cunningham Orchestra. The Tom Cunningham Orchestra plays the best Basie since Basie, the best Goodman since Goodman, the best Ellington since Ellington, the best Miller since Miller… Simply put…the best swing music since the Prohibition days.

This band's resume is impressive as they have performed at the Smithsonian, The Barns of Wolf Trap, Blues Alley, presidential and gubernatorial inaugurals, the Cherry Blossom and other major Balls; they've been a "radio orchestra" and made several TV appearances as well. Whether you’re a Swing enthusiasts or just learning the basics, join us at the dance floor for an unforgettable night of dancing.

Want to take a break from the busy streets of a Metropolis? How about a visit to the beach and a live Jamaican band! The Spirit of the Caribbean comes alive as you enter this tropical paradise with a New Year's style island celebration!

Here you will experience one of Washington's most celebrated live Reggae/Island/Calypso bands – Oasis. Do the limbo, dance the Conga line, raise your hands, and dance like crazy all night long!

TOKYO

Tonight we take the mystique and mystery out of Japan and make you the star. Take center stage and participate in this treasured Asian interactive experience. That’s right...it’s karaoke time. Choose your song and perform…live in front of everyone.

CASABLANCA

Morocco - with a famed movie twist! Tonight, we recreate "Rick's Cafe" from the famed 1940s movie. Sing along with an exciting piano bar ("Play it Again Sam" ) while sampling a Moroccan buffet. Try your luck at mock gambling - as did Captain Renault ("I'm shocked to find gambling on these premises.") Posers and special surprises may await you in this room.

VIENNA

Travel back to the time of kings and queens… when British, French and Austrian royalty embraced the elegant sounds of Mozart, Strauss, and other classical masters. When you want to relax and celebrate Old European charm, visit the epicenter of elegance with members of a local Symphony Orchestra and enjoy the classical music compositions of Beethoven, Strauss, Mozart, Brahmas, Schubert and more! Take home a special free souvenir as a leading local caricaturist draws your picture with a unique background. On a magical winter evening we celebrated an elegant evening of Viennese music, food, wine, and dancing at the magnificent Grand Ballroom of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. 300 ICDC members enjoyed a lavish Viennese dessert buffet after dinner while dancing to the world's beloved waltzes impeccably performed by the Con Brio Orchestra. Anniversary Gala and Masquerade Ball

Our Anniversary Gala and Masquerade Ball was held at the Grand Ballroom of the National Museum of Women in the Arts and was attended by over 400 ICDC members. The evening was a memorable celebration of international music, food, wine, and dancing and featured dancing to a ballroom orchestra as well as a Brazilian band in addition to a delectable dinner and an extravagant dessert buffet.

Embassy of Slovakia Celebration of Art, Culture, Cuisine, and Wine

We visited the Embassy of Slovakia for a very special celebration of Slovak culture, art, food, and wine. It was a great opportunity to learn about Slovakia while you meet the embassy staff and other distinguished guests. We discovered the beauty of Slovakia, tasted authentic food prepared by the embassy chef, and tasted some of Slovakia's finest wines. While enjoying an art exhibit by the Slovak American artist Bernard Pracko, we also listened to traditional and contemporary Slovak music.

French Embassy Luau

On a warm summer evening we enjoyed a luau at the Embassy of France. Our luau featured a luau band with dancers, a Latin band, as well as a DJ performing dance music for the rest of the evening. Attendees also enjoyed a luau dinner and tropical drinks while making new friends from around the world.

We celebrated the arrival of springtime in Washington DC with a ball at the Embassy of France featuring the 40-member ensemble of the European Symphony Orchestra as well as dinner catered by the French Embassy chef. We are also pleased to report that we were able to raise nearly $4,000 for KidSave, an organization that finds homes for foster children from around the world.

ICDC members enjoyed a rare oppotrunity to meet the most prominent Austrian winemakers in person while also sampling Austrian food and meeting other internationally-minded prfessionals in town. Winemakers taking part included: Anton Bauer, Leo Hillinger, Gustav Strauss, Martin Mittelbach,  Brigitte and Anna Steininger and Josef Bauer.

We stepped back in time to experience a magical evening at the National Museum of Women in the Arts -- one of the most exquisite venues in Washington DC for an unforgettable Viennese celebration of music, food, wine and dancing. The museum's grand Renaissance Revival building and the elegant grand ballroom and Mezzanine provided the perfect setting to bring to life the timeless elegance of a Viennese Ball, as experienced in Vienna.

It was also a wonderful opportunity to meet other internationally-minded professionals in DC as well as members of the diplomatic community while enjoying an elegant embassy reception.

Our Fall Gala and Masquerade Ball at the Embassy of France was a memorable celebration of music, wine, food, and dancing as we commemorated the 1st anniversary of the International Club of DC and the 59th anniversary of the United Nations. The evening featured dancing to two live bands representing the music of three continents and it was also an opportunity to meet international professionals in town. Attendees were welcomed to the embassy by the French Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Jean-David Levitte.

The Swiss jazz band "The Sam Burckhardt Trio"performed for us at the Embassy of Switzerland while they were in town for a 3-night engagement. The reception included a variety of Swiss hors d’oeuvres along with Swiss and Californian wine.

We celebrated the holidays at an elegant gala of music, food, and dancing at the Washington National Cathedral, one of the most majestic venues in Washington DC. The gala also included docent led private tours of the cathedral and was a rare opportunity to spend an evening at the top of the Cathedral surrounded by amazing twilight lit 360 degree views of Washington, D.C.
