Gala Concert Evening At the Embassy of Lithuania
Featuring a delightful piano and violin concert
followed by a dinner buffet feast of traditional Lithuanian delicacies by the Embassy Chef.

We cordially request the pleasure of your company at the Embassy of Lithuania for a delightful celebration of Lithuanian music, culture, and art. The evening includes welcome remarks by the Ambassador of Lithuania, His Excellency Ambassador Rolandas Krišciunas.

Either join us for VIP admission followed by a delightful piano and violin concert or join us after the concert for a delightful reception featuring a dinner buffet feast of traditional Lithuanian delicacies by the Embassy Chef. The event also presents a great opportunity to meet diplomatic personnel at the embassy as well as International Club of DC members and Lithuanians in attendance. Space is limited. Please make your reservations early.

Event Notes

Born in Tokyo, Japan, violinist Akemi Takayama is an Associate Professor at the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music where she holds the Victor Brown Endowed Chair. She has also served as concertmaster of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra since 2004 and Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra since 2007. Ms. Takayama was a member of the internationally renowned Audubon Quartet for fourteen years.

Rachel Sexton is a graduate student under the tutelage of Clyde Thomas Shaw at Shenandoah Conservatory. She has studied and collaborated with members of the Ysaye, Cleveland, and Borromeo String Quartets and participated in such festivals as the Aspen Music Festival, Taos Chamber Music Festival, and the Great Mountains Music Festival. She currently performs with the Fairfax and Roanoke Symphony Orchestras.

Lithuanian pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute’s powerfully and intricately crafted performances and recordings have brought her to major stages and critical acclaim throughout the US and Europe. Ieva’s piano trio—Trio Cavatina—won the 2009 Naumburg International Chamber Music Competition, and she received a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2006. Last fall, Ieva began her tenure as Assistant Professor, Piano at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA.
