Event Description

We cordially request the pleasure of your company for a very special cultural event presented in cooperation with 18 Ibero-American embassies including the embassies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, Panama and Venezuela.

The event is presented at the Mexican Cultural Institute of the Embassy of Mexico, one of Washington's most magnificent and grand diplomatic venues. As you enjoy the evening, taste delectable local delicacies of the Iberoamerican countries being presented along with wine and handcrafted cocktails. The evening also includes live musical performances with musicians from Panama, Venezuela, and artwork on display featuring “Constructing Mexico68” a show about the first Summer Olympics hosted in Latin America. This multicultural fiesta is a great opportunity to meet representatives from up to 18 countries presenting the event along with internationally minded professionals attending the event.

Beverages
Uruguay’s wine industry began in the 1870s when the grape Tannat, originating from the Madiran region of France, was introduced by Basque immigrants. Adapting perfectly to the climate and soil, Tannat has become Uruguay’s varietal, producing rich, full-bodied red wines with dark fruit and spice aromas and flavors, and great structure and aging ability.

Clos Amador Brut Délicat Reserva and Rose Tendre, White and Rosé "Cava" from the Spanish region of Catalonia. 

Portuguese Vinho Verde

Pisco sour is a cocktail prepared with pisco and lemon juice. The name comes from the union of the words "pisco" (a grape brandy that comes from Peru) and "sour" (in reference to the family of cocktails that use lemon as part of their recipe).

Live Music
Musical presentations from Venezuela and Panama and a closing performance by Sanguashington, a band from the Washington, D.C. area that plays a variety of latin rhythms including vallenato , cumbia , salsa, and tropi-pop. DeSanguashington has emerged as one of DC’s premier latin bands, recognized and beloved by the Latino community and by those who enjoy international music.

Please reserve your tickets now, as the event is expected to sell out in advance. All attendees must be 21 and over. Please note that we may add, change, or remove components of the program as the event details are finalized. 

Festivities for the evening start at 6:30 PM for VIP Guests and 7:30 PM for General Admission guests. Please arrive on time. The event is organized as a festival to celebrate Ibero American culture. As such there are many facets to the evening and the evening is planned so that you can mingle and walk inside the Mexican Cultural Center to enjoy your evening. Kindly note that the event is not organized as a sit-down event or dinner function but rather as a stand up cocktail reception with authentic food tastings.

Enjoy a special VIP reception from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM with signature drink, a special diplomatic greeting and an optional tour of the Historic Mansion for guests who arrive promptly at 6:30 PM. Please ensure that you arrive by 6:30 PM to enjoy the VIP benefits. We are unable to issue you a refund if you arrive late and miss any of the VIP Admission benefits.
