Event Description

The International Club of DC with the cooperation of the Embassy of Portugal and  His Excellency Ambassador Francisco Duarte Lopes, the Portuguese Ambassador to the United States, cordially request the pleasure of your company for the rare delight of a concert featuring a captivating fusion of jazz, fado, and traditional Portuguese music, offering a unique exploration of Portuguese music. The concert is followed by a dinner buffet feast of Portuguese delicacies prepared especially for you by the Ambassador's staff!

The intimate and beautiful setting of the Portuguese Ambassador’s residence provides the perfect setting for you to discover Portugal through all your senses while meeting the Ambassador*, distinguished diplomats and staff at the embassy along with ICDC members in attendance.   
  
* Please note that if the Ambassador is called away for official business, the Deputy Chief of Mission or other high ranking diplomat from the embassy will present the welcome remarks.

The dinner buffet of Portuguese delicacies will be presented with limited seating. The dinner reception also includes wine and drinks served at the bar.

Please reserve your tickets soon, as space is very limited and the event is expected to sell out in advance. Discounted tickets available for a limited time. As we reach capacity, the ticket price is subject to increase. 

:::: ALMO & Júlio Resende: A captivating fusion of jazz, fado, and traditional Portuguese music, offering a unique exploration of Portuguese music.
 ALMO & Júlio Resende present a unique and innovative concert, where the excellence of the creative and improvising ability of the pianist and composer Júlio Resende joins the interpretive talent of the singers Paulo Lapa (tenor) and Tiago Matos (baritone). In a perfect symbiosis between jazz, improvisation and singing, they seek a differentiating sound that lives up to the essence of Fado and Portuguese Traditional Music without being exclusively and intrinsically linked to jazz and lyrical aesthetics.

 As this event takes place within the private residence of the Ambassador of Portugal, photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside the premises. We kindly ask all guests to honor this policy and refrain from capturing photos or recording videos during the event. Your cooperation helps preserve the exclusivity and decorum of this special occasion. Thank you for your understanding and respect.

All online ticket sales are final. We are unable to issue refunds for tickets purchased due to expenses incurred to present the event.

Event Agenda (May change)

6:30 PM Admission commences.

Kindly do not arrive prior to 6:30 PM, as we are unable to admit guests prior to 6:30 PM due to ongoing arrangements to prepare for the event. Please do arrive promptly at 6:30 PM to be seated for the concert. Dinner is presented at the conclusion of the concert with the event concluding at about 9:00 PM. Please do arrive promptly at 6:30 PM to be seated for the concert.

9:00 PM Event Concludes

Due to security and space considerations, you must reserve a ticket in advance to attend. Please arrive with photo ID that matches the name on your reservation and the credit card used to make the reservation. Due to strict security considerations all guest must have a reservation and photo ID to attend. Absolutely no door sales.

Kindly note that your contribution is unrelated to the embassy or venue the event is being presented at and all proceeds from the event are used solely by International Club of DC Inc. to cover expenses related to presenting cultural events to our members.

Parking is limited to street parking in the vicinity of the Ambassador's residence. Uber or other transportation service is highly recommended.

Due to the limited availability of parking, we highly recommend a cab, Uber/Lyft or other transportation option. The event start at the designated time so please allow sufficient time for traffic/travel/transportation and parking as these factors are beyond our control.

Due to expenses incurred, we are unable to offer refunds if you are unable to attend the event for any reason. Purchase of tickets for the event constitutes your acceptance of our no-refund policy.
