Brought together personally by Martha Argerich, the Capuçon-Angelich Trio — one of the most promising ensembles in the world of chamber music today — features the native French duo of violinist Renaud Capuçon and cellist Gautier Capuçon, considered internationally to be two of the world's most gifted string players, along with the US-born award winning pianist Nicholas Angelich. The trio has recorded on Virgin Classics and EMI labels.

This will be Capuçon-Angelich Trio’s third US tour. In 2008, the Trio received rave reviews for its first North America tour, that included première performances in San Francisco, New York, Québec and Montréal. Additional Event Information & Notes

Press review
"Nicholas Angelich and the two Capucons play (Brahms Trios) in a way that's sure to kindle anyone's enthusiasm for Brahms. Warm, beautifully balanced tone stresses the composer's romantic side, as does the expansive phrasing. There's a feeling of spontaneity, too, as though each player is discovering new aspects to the music while recording it... the way they are able to strike a balance between Brahms's engergetic flow of ideas, his strongly delineated structures and his lyric intensity is most satisfying." – Gramophone

About the Trio
Named the 2005 "Instrumentalist of the Year" by the Victoires de la musique (the French equivalent of a Grammy), Renaud Capuçon (violin) has taken his place among the top echelon of violinists. He has performed with world-renowned orchestras such as the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood, Bayerische Rundfunk, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre de Paris, NHK Symphony and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, with conductors Bychkov, Chung, Dutoit, Eschenbach, Fischer, Robertson and Sawallisch, among others. His chamber music partners include Argerich, Barenboim, Bashmet, Bronfman, the Labèques, Pletnev and Thibaudet. An exclusive Virgin Classics artist, Mr. Capuçon has recorded several CDs, his latest of the Mendelssohn and Schumann concertos with Daniel Harding and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Award-winning cellist Gautier Capuçon, who won a Victoires de la musique as "New Talent of the Year" in 2001, has taken the international music world by storm with his recital, orchestral and chamber music performances. His collaborations include performances with Argerich, Barenboim, Boulez, Myung-Whun Chung, the Labèques, Ozawa, Repin, Thibaudet, Znaider, as well as with his brother, violinist Renaud Capuçon. He has released three recordings on the Virgin Classics label: Haydn concertos with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Daniel Harding, chamber music of Ravel with Renaud Capuçon and pianist Frank Braley and a recording of contemporary violin and cello duos entitled "Face r Face."

US-born Nicholas Angelich (piano) began piano studies at the age of five with his mother. He gave his first concert at the age of seven and entered the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique in Paris at the age of 13. Mr. Angelich has performed with the major French orchestras under such conductors as Myung-Whun Chung and David Robertson. In 2003 he made his début with the New York Philharmonic led by Kurt Masur. Hailed as an interpreter of the classical and romantic scores, Mr. Angelich’s repertoire also includes composers ranging from Bartók to Boulez and Messiaen to Stockhausen. In 2002 Mr. Angelich received the Young Talent Award from Leon Fleischer at the International Klavierfestival Ruhr in Germany.
